ASTM F88 Seal strength*

Seal strength is a quantitative measure for package integrity and seal consistency. A sample of the seal is cut from the package. Depending on the direction of the seal and the package material, one of the three tail holding methods is used to grip the sample. The seal of the package is tested in a tensile test until failure at 200 to 300 mm/min. The seal strength of different samples is only comparable if the same grip method was used.
