ISO 21535 Range of motion analysis (ROM)*

The range of motion of the hips (range of motion = ROM) is measured using the method prescribed in ISO 21535. On the one hand, this can be performed using a complete (stem and cup) implant or in combination with CAD analysis to investigate the complete range of motion available. The range of motion up to the impingement is measured in the flexion/extension, adduction/abduction and internal/external rotation.

The standard prescribes a minimum angle of rotation, the implant has to be capable of before impingement occurs.
